History
The Institute of Technologies and Materials can derive its origin from the Institute of Mechanical Technology I-III which came into existence in 1942. The first head of the Institute was Jozef Čabelka, Prof., MSc., PhD. In 1951 the Department of Mechanical Technology was founded. This department was in 1965 divided into Department of Forming and Forming Machines and Department of Physical Metallurgy, Welding and Casting. Both Departments coexisted till 1986, when the Department of Materials and Technologies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering came into existence. The Department of Materials and Technologies continues in educational and scientific activities of the former departments. After adoption of new organisation structure of the faculty in 2007 the Department of Materials and Technologies change to Institute of Technologies and Materials. The main scientific fields in which it educates and researches are: · materials sciences · production technologies (forming, casting, welding) |
