Institute of Process and Fluid Engineering was created by adoption of new organisation structure of the faculty at July 15th 2007. In the institute were joined two former departments: Department of Chemical Machines and Equipments and Department of Hydraulic Machinery.
Institute is currently structured in two departments: Department of process engineering and Department of fluid engineering.
Department of Fluid Engineering
Former "Department of Hydraulic Machinery" is a founding member of the faculty (established at April 1st 1946). First head of the department was Ing. Dr. tech. Alois Hebký (in 1947 inaugurated as the first professor of the department).
Main scope of the research: Fluid power, Pumps, Water turbines, Liquid and Gas Pipeline Systems.
Education activities: Fluid Mechanics, Fluid power, Pumps, Water turbines, Pipeline systems.
Department of process engineering
Former "Department of Chemical Machines and Equipments" was founded in October 1st 1953. First head of the department was Prof. Ing. Michal Škrabák, DrSc.
Main scope of the reasearch: Mechanical Processes, Hydromechanical Separation, Thermal and Diffusion Processes, Reactors, Bioreactors, Design of Machines.
Education activities: Mechanical processes, Transfer Phenomena, Hydraulic processes, Heat and Mass Transfer, Reactors, Bioreactors, Chemical Machinery.
