The department provides: material analyses for fatigue life assessment of structures, operational tests of samples and parts of structures, measurements and analyses of loads on structures in operation. Instrumentation: electrohydraulic pulsator EDYZ 6 with accessories, National Instruments multi-channel strain gauge for dynamic in-service measurements, TIV optical microcurrent meter, DANTEC high-speed non-contact strain measurement, FLIR thermal imaging measurement of temperature fields, Photostress non-contact strain measurement.
The workplace is equipped with: computer modelling and simulation software ANSYS finite element method. For the analysis and design of dynamic systems, as well as their control, the workplace has at its disposal the ADAMS software system. We achieve extraordinary results in the development of computer-oriented modelling and simulation methods in technical engineering, especially finite element methods and their applications in engineering practice.
Field of application: design and engineering of structures, testing of prototypes, analysis and measurement of real operational loading conditions, expertise of accidents and fractures, on-line monitoring of fatigue damage of structures in operation.
Classrooms and other instrumentation of the Institute
The department has the most modern technologies in the field of thermography, which are used in the educational process as well as in industrial applications and research. Students learn the basics of working with thermal imaging while working on their final diploma projects. Upon graduation, they are able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills immediately without additional individual and costly training!
