PhD programs
Students possessing the second degree can have access to doctoral study (PhD) obtainable upon completion of a dissertation based on original research work. Candidates will be usually required to demonstrate strong academic ability.
Study language
The general medium of instruction in FME STU is the Slovak language. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering provides also some bachelor and master studies taught entirely in English for both Slovak and international students. All courses taught in English language have the same curricula and the subjects have the same syllabi as in Slovak language taught courses.
Moreover, PhD courses in all offered scientific fields can be studied in English too, subject to the capability and capacity of designated supervisors.
Exemptions (transfer of credits)
If the applicants possess a foreign diploma of higher education or a record of successful completion of a part of university study, technology college, short term courses, etc., it may be regarded by the Faculty authorities as equivalent to a part of a FME STU study. The Professors and Deputy Dean of the Faculty are responsible for granting exemptions (transfer of credits) for subjects in the curriculum on the basis of previous study achievements. Such exemptions are mentioned in the transcript of academic records.
