Information for doctoral candidates about admission procedure for study in academic year 2015/2016:
Candidate for PhD. study has to have completed 2. level of higher education (engineer, master). In the case of external form of study 2 years after graduation work experience is required .
Schedule and dates of admission process:
- application deadline: till the 31. of May 2015
- sending documents about graduation of second level of higher education: till the 25. of June 2015 (graduation documents of foreign applicants have to be legalized by apostille and confirmation about equivalence of contents of completed study has to be attached)
- term of entrance examination: 3. of July 2015
- admission board meeting: 3. of July 2015
Verification of diploma and study documents:
Verification of diploma and study documents has to be realized in the home country of the applicant by apostille. Apostille is usually provided by ministry of foreign affairs or ministry of education. Then the assessment of equivalence of contents of completed study is necessary and is realized by Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava which gives out the confirmation about equivalence. You can log in to the dissertation topic specified in the list of thesis for the academic year 2015/2016 mentioned in the list of dissertation topics for academic year 2014/2015. More information about the dissertation topic supervisor can provide. The theme of dissertation topics is bound with orientation of the entrance exam.
Application shall contain:
- duly filled-in application form
- curriculum vitae
- recognition of Master Diploma
- proof of payment for admission procedure
- proof of work experience in a related field (only for external study)
Recognition of Master Diploma which is necessary for admission to PhD. study is realized by the office of rector of STU

The required documents:
- duly filled-in application for recognizing an education diploma issued by a foreign university;
- notary-certified copy of a diploma or other education document issued by a foreign university - officially translated into the Slovak language.
- notary-certified copy of a diploma supplement or a certified copy of an extract from completed subjects and passed exams – officially translated into the Slovak language;
- The authenticity of signatures and the school stamp on original copies of the education documents shall be certified by Apostil – shall be on the education documents issued in countries, that have signed The Hague Convention on the Cancellation of the Requirement of a Higher Certification of Foreign Public Records. List of the particular offices authorised for certification in the respective countries is published in The Hague Convention;
- certificate on paying the fee in amount of 40 € (determined by the regulation "Tuition Fee and Study-Related Fees for the given academic year"). Fee is to be paid by a bank transfer or by a Slovak postal money order.
- Period for taking a decision: 30 days from the proceedings start, in particulary complicated cases not later than 60 days. (Article 49 Sec. 2 of the Act No. 71/1967)
Electronic application form is necessary to be printed (from Academic Information System), signed and delivered (by the post or personally) to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, together with required attachments. Only signed and on time delivered application form can be accepted. Incomplete forms will be excluded from the admission procedure.

The obligatory part of the admission procedure is the entrance examination with the following content:
- assessment of study results of engineering/master´s degree study in the relevant or related field,
- evaluation of research activities,
- assessment of the applicant's motivation for scientific work,
- test from one language,
- examination of knowledge of the field and discuss the topics
Applicants with specific needs:
Applicant with specific needs can require for the special form of the entrance examination. Form of the examination can be modified on the base of his needs. Application for the update of the form and content of examination should be delivered together with the printed application form for PhD. study.
